i was reading an article from Nosek and Jost and I had a question about an IAT that they used.  The study looked at how conservatism relates to different implicit attitudes.  one of the IAT that they used in the study was about tradition versus progress of which conservatives had a stronger automatic preference towards tradition.  i was wondering how you do a word IAT

do you use the typical good and bad words and then use "tradition" and "progress" as the stimulus words to categorize.  the reason i ask is because i know the race IAT uses pictures or stereotypical names of black versus white people as the stimulus.  does anyone know or should i contact the makers of the study directly?

Hello,

I emailed Brian your question, and here are the stimuli they used for that study:

Tradition: ritual custom convention stability
Progress: development advancement innovation change

Cheers,

Sean
