hi,
I am doing an experiment about attitude to AIDS via inquisit. I design an IAT in which targets include texts and pictures. But,in Standard IAT procedure, targets are only text or pictures. So, i don't know to set targets mixed text with pictures.
I'm looking forward to your suggestion.
Thanking you ! Have a good day!

Hi,

it's certainly possible to modify any of the existing IAT scripts to include text and picture items. But - seeing that you're not (yet) familiar with Inquisit - why not make your life easier by simply presenting the words you wish to use as pictures (i.e. a picture that displays the word)? Then you could just take one of the picture IAT scripts available from the IAT samples page (http://www.millisecond.com/download/samples/v3/IAT/default.aspx), paste your items in there and basically be done with it...

Regards from a fellow Inquisit user,
~Dave

Thanks for your suggestion! but maybe i don't express myself. The targets are not a picture that display the word, but include words and pictures. I had tried modify standard IAT procedure, but it can't work.

Look -- keep the target *pictures* you already have. Now, for each *word* you want to use as target, make a new *picture*. So, for example, if you want to use the word 'love' in your IAT, make a picture that has 'love' written in it (see attached example). Get the idea?

Hello,

I am currently in the same situation, such that I would like the stimuli that participants are presented with to be a combination of words and pictures. I understand Dave's basic suggestion, and I think that it is a great alternative to entering the code in a manner that will run pictures and text within Inquisit.

However, I was wondering if anyone has script available in which they were able to (or would be willing/able to explain how to) run stimuli consisting of pictures and text within the same block without having to create pictures using the text. I am using a modified version of the IAT, so I will not be able to use the sample picture IAT provided within Inquisit.

Thank you!
