Millisecond Software thanks Dr.Niazi for sharing his script!

BACKGROUND INFO

											*Purpose*
This script implements the VVIQ by

Marks, D.F. (1973). Visual imagery differences in the recall of pictures.
British Journal of Psychology, 64(1), 17–24.

A paper version of this VVIQ is available on David Marks webpage:
http://web.archive.org/web/20080615154210/http://www.staff.city.ac.uk/d.marks/vviq.htm

											  *Task*
participant rates once with eyes open/once with eyes closed the vividness of
16 imagined scenes on a 5-point scale (a glider is used in this script).
Each response receives 1 (highest vividness) to 5 (lowest vividness) points.

Max combined score = 5*32 = 160 (low vividness)
Min combined score = 1*32 = 32 (high vividness)

DATA FILE INFORMATION:
The default data stored in the data files are:

(1) Raw data files: 'VVIQ_openeyes*.iqdat'/'VVIQ_closedeyes*.iqdat' (a separate file for each participant)

date, time, group, subject: date and time script was run with the current group/subjectnumber
build: the Inquisit build

q*_response: response given (in assigned values)
q*_latency: how much time (in ms) the participant spent on the surveypage with this particular question (the last time this particular surveypage was visited)

(2) Summary data file: 'VVIQ_summary*.iqdat' (a separate file for each participant)

script.startdate: date script was run
script.starttime: time script was started
script.subjectid: subject id number
script.groupid: group id number
script.elapsedtime: time it took to run script (in ms)
computer.platform: the platform the script was run on
/completed: 0 = script was not completed (prematurely aborted); 1 = script was completed (all conditions run)
demographics:
textbox.age.response: age response of participant
radiobuttons.gender.response: gender response of participant
textbox.occupation: occupation response of participant
+ VVIQ scores for the open and closed surveys as well as the VVIQ total/combined score

QUESTIONNAIRE SET-UP
This script first presents the VVIQ with Eyes open and is then followed by the
VVIQ with Eyes closed. A separate score as well as a combined score is obtained for each part.
VVIQ_eyesopen.iqx => raw data for the VVIQ with eyes open instructions
VVIQ_eyesclosed.iqx => raw data for the VVIQ with eyes closed instructions
VVIQ_scores.iqx => scores for each survey as well as a total score

INSTRUCTIONS
The htm instruction pages are provided by Millisecond Software (build on the instructions by A. Niazi).
They were written to closely resemble the original
(at: http://web.archive.org/web/20080615154210/http://www.staff.city.ac.uk/d.marks/vviq.htm)
while adapting them to the computerized set-up used in this script.

EDITABLE CODE:
check below for (relatively) easily editable parameters, stimuli, instructions etc.
Keep in mind that you can use this script as a template and therefore always "mess" with the entire code to further customize your experiment.
