Installing Required Windows Components

Like all Windows applications, Inquisit relies upon services provided by Windows. For the sake of stability and performance, Inquisit uses the very latest versions of several common Windows components (DirectX being a notable example). Depending on which version of Windows you are using and what software you have already installed, you may need to update certain Windows components in order for Inquisit to function properly.

Below are the required Microsoft components for the various versions of Windows. If you are having trouble running Inquisit, install the components listed for your operating system. To install a component, simply click on the link and when prompted choose the option to "Run this program from its current location ".

Speech Recognition

If you wish to take advantage of Inquisit's speech recognition capabilities, you must install the components below. Inquisit will not work with other speech recognition engines.

  • Microsoft Speech API  (required for speech recognition only)
  • Microsoft Speech Recognition Engine  (required for speech recognition only)
