It might work on a Mac running a Windows emulator such as Virtual PC. However, we
do not support or test Inquisit on the Mac.
Internet Explorer users:
The Inquisit ActiveX Control will be installed in one of two places depending
on whether the user opted to run the exe installer or use Internet Explorer's built
in ActiveX installer.
If installed via Internet Explorer:
-
Click Start->My Computer.
-
Expand your Windows drive (usually "C"), and navigate to "C:\Windows\Downloaded
Program Files".
- If the Inquisit 2.0 ActiveX Control appears in the list, right click it and select
"Uninstall".
If installed via the exe:
-
Open a Windows command prompt by selecting Start->Run, entering "cmd", and pressing
OK.
-
Navigate to the system directory by typing "cd c:\windows\system32".
-
Unregister the control by typing the following command: "regsvr32.exe /u "C:\Program
Files\Millisecond Software\Inquisit 2.0 ActiveX Control\InquisitAx.dll"".
- Delete the control by typing the following command: "del "C:\Program Files\Millisecond
Software\Inquisit 2.0 ActiveX Control\InquisitAx.dll"".
Firefox and Netscape users:
- Browse to your Firefox or Netscape program files directory, for example C:\Program
Files\Mozilla Firefox\ or C:\Program Files\Netscape\Netscape Browser\
- Open the "plugins" subdirectory and delete npInquisit_*.dll and npInquisit_*.xpt.
- Delete the folder "C:\Program Files\Millisecond Software\Inquisit 2.0 Mozilla Plugin\".
To run an Inquisit web experiment, the following requirements must be met.
- The computer must be running Windows. Mac and Linux are not supported.
- The user must be using Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Netscape as their browser.
- The user must either be logged into the computer with admin privileges, or the computer
must have the .NET Framework 2.0 installed. If niether of these conditions is true,
the experiment won't run.
You can register a unconnected computer by obtaining a registration key from a computer
that does have web access and then manually entering that key on the unconnected
computer. Specifically:
-
Launch Inquisit on the computer you wish to register.
-
When the registration window appears, copy down the computer key. Leave the registration
window open.
- Go to a computer with internet access, and navigate to our registration page at
http://www.millisecond.com/myaccount/registerform.aspx.
-
Login to the registration page.
-
On the registration page, select the version of Inquisit you are using and enter
the computer key that you copied down previously. Click the "Get Registraion Key"
button.
-
Copy down the registration key that the page provides.
-
Return to the computer you wish to register and enter the registration key in the
Inquisit registration window.
