This script implements the Screen for Posttraumatic Stress Symptoms (SPTSS) Version 2.0. A description of the
SPTSS can be found in:
Carlson, E.B. (2001).Psychometric Study of a Brief Screen for PTSD:Assessing the Impact of Multiple Traumatic Events.
Assessment, 8, 431-441.
A paper version of the SPTSS (version 2.0) was retrieved from:
Carlson. (2012) . The Screen for Posttraumatic Stress Symptoms (SPTSS) . Measurement Instrument
Database for the Social Science. Retrieved from www.midss.ie
Version 2.0 differs from Version 1.0 in the number of answer categories (version 1.0: 0-10; version 2.0: 0-4)
Participants are asked to answer 17 radiobuttons questions pertaining PTSD symptoms within the last 2 weeks
by choosing a number from 0 - 4 for each question.
DATA FILE INFORMATION:
The default data stored in the data files are:
(1) Raw data file: 'SPTSS_2_0.iqdat'
date, time, group, subject: date and time script was run with the current group/subjectnumber
build: the Inquisit build
q*_response: response given (in assigned values)
q*_latency: how much time the participant spent on the surveypage with this particular question
(the last time this particular surveypage was visited)
(2) Summary data file: 'SPTSS_2_0_summary*.iqdat' (a separate file for each participant)
script.startdate: date script was run
script.starttime: time script was started
script.subjectid: subject id number
script.groupid: group id number
script.elapsedtime: time it took to run script (in ms)
computer.platform: the platform the script was run on
/completed: 0 = script was not completed (prematurely aborted); 1 = script was completed (all conditions run)
/TotalScore: the sum of all individual scores
/SPTSS_Score: the average score
The questionnaire adapts the layout of the paper and pencil questionnaire to the computer screen.
The 17 questions are spread out over 4 survey pages. Each page repeats the instructions and
participants can go back and forth between pages.
Instructions can easily be edited under EDITABLE CODE -> Editable Parameters
check below for (relatively) easily editable parameters, stimuli, instructions etc.
Keep in mind that you can use this script as a template and therefore always "mess" with the entire code to further customize your experiment.
The parameters you can change are:
/pageinstructions: the instructions that appear at the top of each surveypage
/subinstructions: further instructions
