Hi all,

I was very interested to read about this nice method of measureing viewing distance remotely:

https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-019-57204-1

I wondered if anyone has implemented this in inquisit, or knows of a method to integrate the javascript plug in shared by the authors with an inquisit expt?

https://github.com/QishengLi/virtual_chinrest

Thanks!
Dave

Yeah, this can be implemented in Inquisit. I've attached a draft below.

Tweaked the square and circle positions in the attached revision a bit to be (I think) closer to the original authors' JavaScript example. There should be a maximum distance of ~18cm between the fixation square on the right side of the screen and the animated ball at its farthest position on the left side of the screen.
I've compared estimation results between the original HTML/JS example implementation and the Inquisit script with head position from screen fixated and measured by ruler, and the estimation results are consistent / virtually identical on my system.

Thanks so much, I'm amazingly grateful you were able to do this (and so fast)!
