Hi,

We want to include a matrix reasoning test in our Inquisit web test battery, more specifically the Mars-IB (https://royalsocietypublishing-org.ezproxy.uio.no/doi/10.1098/rsos.190232). Since I am new to using Inquisit I am trying to find a similar test in the test library for modification, but cannot find one - am I missing something?

Cheers,
Heidi

There isn't any matrix reasoning test in the library, but it's not hard to implement the test described in the publication. A quick example with three problems taken from the set is attached below.

Hi Dave,

Did you end up getting this programmed? I have an Honours student who has had to suddenly switch to online testing, and this exact same problem came up for me. If you've already programmed it, would you mind sharing it? If not, I'll be programming it myself and would be happy to share mine.

Thanks!

Deborah.

Hi Deborah,

I am currently working on this script (among several others). I am new to programming in Inquisit, though, so it is as of now quite time consuming. That said, I'd be happy to share it once its finished. FYI - I heard another group followed the same implementation as Nussenbaum et al:

Hi Heidi,

Oh, thanks, sorry for replying to the wrong person! I have done a little more work in Inquisit and am pretty experienced in programming, so maybe it will be easier for me. How far did you get up till now?

Best

Deborah.

Hi,

No worries! I've only played around by adding a count down timer, adjusting the trial duration, and collected the material used in the Nussenbaum ref. I'm supposed to continue programing this tomorrow, but I've attached it here if you want to take a look at it now (though it is basically the same as above).

Cheers,

Heidi

Hi Heidi,

Thanks! How did you go with programming the rest? I think an instruction page and some practice trials would also be good - if you haven't done these yet, perhaps we could collaborate on that, and work towards publishing this on Inquisit?

Cheers!

Deborah.

Hi again Heidi,

I've been tinkering with this a bit more today and have added stimuli up to no. 20 - this is largely a tedious copy-paste job, but I've realised we also need the data collection programmed in (number of correct items and reaction times of correct responses as set out in the paper). I might start working on that now, along with the participant instructions, unless you have done this already?

Cheers

Deborah.
