The Inquisit 4 Tobii Plugin allows you to record gaze-point data and program gaze-contingent tasks with Inquisit 4 and Tobii eye trackers.
The plugin communicates directly with your Tobii eyetracker to receive real-time gaze data including gaze point
and pupil size. These gaze data are logged to a local file on your computer where they can be loaded into analysis packages such as
MatLab to create heat maps and gaze plots. Your scripts can now programmatically access gaze data for using in gaze-contingent
branching and task flow using the new eyetracker element. The
Inquisit 4 Tobii Plugin uses the Tobii Analytics SDK 3.0 -
see Tobii's SDK page for a list of compatible eye tracker models.
Affordable solution for eye tracking research
The Inquisit 4 Tobii Plugin provides a powerful, cost-effective alternative to Tobii Studio
for conducting psychological research with Tobii eye trackers. The plugin allows you to
leverage Inquisit's broad and flexible capabilities for presenting stimuli or administering
cognitive/neuropsychological tests. In addition, you can program your presentation scripts
with gaze-contingent logic such as that used in research involving parafoveal stimulus presentation
and reading window tasks. The plugin records gaze data to a tab-delimited text file that can
be imported into analysis packages such as MatLab, SPSS, and Excel for posthoc analyses such
as gaze plots and heat maps.
Single computer for stimulus presentation and gaze-point logging
The Inquisit 4 Tobii plugin enables you use a single computer for stimulus presentation
and gaze point logging. You can also use Inquisit's built-in screen capture
feature to save snapshot of composed visual scenes for use in heat maps and gaze plots.
Combine Inquisit's powerful presentation features with Tobii eye tracking capabilities
Leverage Inquisit's wide range of features in your eye tracking research. Inquisit supports a
wide range of presentation paradigms, from simple image and video displays to complex reaction time
tasks and decision making paradigms. Leverage any of the paradigms in our test library, or
program your own. Runs on both Windows and Mac OS X.
Download and Install
The Inquisit 4 Tobii Plugin is built into Inquisit 4 Lab, so if you have downloaded and
installed Inquisit 4 lab, there's is nothing further to do. To enable the plugin,
you'll need a registration key for the plugin, which you obtain by purchasing a plugin
license. (Note - this is a different registration key than the one used to register Inquisit 4 Lab.)
Documentation and samples
Please visit our Tobii test library page for sample scripts demonstrating gaze-contingent tasks using Tobii eye trackers.
For information on setting up and programming a Tobii eye tracker, see our help topics on the eyetracker
element and the language extensions specific to the Tobii Plugin.
A license is required for each computer on which the plugin is registered.
The first license purchased on the account is billed as a Primary License. Subsequent licenses for additional computers are billed at
the lower Additional License rate, whether purchased together with the primary license or separately
at a later time. Licenses can be transferred to other computers
if, for example, your hard drive crashes or you upgrade your equipment.
